Stretch Marks? These foods can help

Our skin is made up of three main layers: Epidermis (the outer layer), Dermis (the middle layer) and Subcutaneous or Hypodermic (the deepest layer). Stretch marks form in the middle layer of the skin when the connective tissue is “stretched” beyond the power of its flexibility as a result of rapid expansion or contraction of our
skin. Skin expansion usually occur due to sudden weight gain or pregnancy.
The purpose of this article s to show you foods that help you remove the stretch mark and your body and we are going to stick strictly to that. Stretch marks appear on the body for a number of reasons and we are not going to be going into that today. We are only going to discuss how you can make use of foods to remove them from your body.
This is going to be in two part — (i) foods that you should eat to get rid of stretch marks, and (ii) foods that you can apply on your body (not eat), to remove stretch marks. Let’s take this journey together to see these foods and how they work their wonders.

Foods To Eat To Get Rid Of Stretch Mark

The visibility of stretch marks can be reduced by making few changes to your diet. There are foods that, if included in the meals that we consume can help fade the stretch marks away. These are the foods we will be discussing in this section.

Foods That Are Rich In Vitamins

Vitamins are a very important nutrient for the body and we cannot start to mention all vitamins and how the body benefits from having them in a single article. Vitamins are generally abundant in many foods in their raw states but by the time we process them and subject these foods to heat, soak or wash them in water, many vitamins are lost because they are heat labile or water-soluble. My colleague mentioned something related in an article about unhealthy side of tomato puree or paste in one article published recently.
Vitamin C aids in skin collagen formation, vitamin A aids in the development of skin cells, and vitamin E helps the body regenerate vitamin C. These three vitamins together, help to fight off development of new stretch marks and promote the healing of current ones.
Example of foods that are rich in these vitamins are: Vitamin C — carrots, sweet potatoes and blueberries; Vitamins A and E — milk, cheese, avocados and sunflower seeds.

Foods That Are Rich In Zinc

Okay, I am going to talk about collagen here again. For those of us who do not know what collagen is — it is the connective protein that holds your skin together. Zinc is very vital in the formation of this mineral, so if we are looking to fight off and prevent stretch marks, we should increase our daily intake of Zinc-rich foods. Zinc in common meats such as fish and turkey.

Water Helps Prevent Stretch Marks

Any day, any time, water should be preferred as the choice drinks over other type of drinks such as coffee, soda, carbonated beverage drinks, etc. This is because, they (coffee, soda, etc.) could cause skin dehydration leaving your skin prone to stretch marks development. Water on the other hand, helps to hydrate the skin and keep it healthy. Drink a substantial amount of water instead of soft drinks and soda.

Protein-rich foods
Also are very good for restoring skin cells. Foods such as eggs and white meat (chicken and turkey) are very good sources.

Now to those foods that we can use on the affected part of the skin to remove stretch marks…
These are foods that you need to use on your skin in order to make your stretch marks fade away. People have used them and reported success in making those marks fade away. There are many foods that can help in this regard but I am going to only include the common ones — those that we can get easily at relatively low cost.

Potatoes fade them away

Potatoes contain some vitamins and minerals in their juice that help restore skin cells. Slice a piece of potato and rub the juice that comes out on the affected part. This will make the stretch marks less apparent over time. When you are applying the potatoes, make sure that the white starchy part rubs off the skin too.
Leave the potato juice to dry for some time before washing it off with some lukewarm water.

Lemon Juice fades stretch mark

There are so many uses of lemon juice and one of the important ones is this — fighting off stretch marks on the skin. The juice from lemon is naturally acidic, this helps to heal and reduce stretch marks, acne, and other scars that may be present on the skin.
What you need to do is to slice a lemon fruit and rub the fresh lemon juice onto the stretch marks using circular motions. It is better to use fresh juice. Don’t express juice from lemon and keep for use at a later date.
Allow the lemon juice to soak into your skin for at least 10 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.
